Around the Fair

HANA ARTIST AWARD

The Hana Artist Award is awarded to an outstanding artist participating in the Hana ‘Flower’ sector of Tokyo Gendai. The Hana ‘Flower’ sector is dedicated to solo or multiple presentations of artists at an early- or mid-stage in their career, and includes presentations in all mediums. With a mission to foster emerging creative talent, the Hana Artist Award consists of a cash award of USD 10,000 and special recognition at the fair. An international jury of leading curators and thinkers carefully review the work of all artists exhibiting in the Hana sector, with the winning artist announced at a ceremony.

CURATORIAL SYMPOSIUM

Tokyo Gendai’s annual curatorial symposium is a dedicated space for the discussion and exploration of contemporary curatorial practices and concepts. Through its program of in-depth conversations, the symposium brings together a diversity of perspectives from across Japan and internationally, offering the curators the opportunity to connect and engage with the fair’s international exhibitors, artists and collectors.

VIP PROGRAM

Over the course of the fair week, an extensive VIP program offers a range of art experiences across Japan. The program has featured visits to museums in the Setouchi region, as well as a tour of Kyoto and Nasushiobara, and a trip to Nagoya to visit the Aichi Triennale.
